Piotr Barański was born in Poland. He studied voice at the conservatories in Wrocław, The Hague and Utrecht. Currently he is coached by Stephen Hopkins (Wiener Staatsoper).
He took part in many competitions and master classes. He was studying with great singers: Charlotte Margiono, Jill Feldman, Andrew Watts, Paul Esswood, Michael Chance, Meinard Kraak; conductors: Hernan Schvartzman, Vincent de Kort, Giovanni Paganelli, Jan Tomasz Adamus, Andrew Wise and directors: Gusta Teengs Gerritsen, Floris Visser.
In 2007 Piotr Barański was a finalist of The Yamaha Scholarship Competition for Opera Singers in Amsterdam . In 2012 he was a semifinalist during the 49th International Vocal Competition in 's-Hertogenbosch. The year 2013 brought him a place in the semifinals during the 7th International Vocal Competition in Bologna. He performed at the opera festivals like Yo Opera Festival and Operadagen in Rotterdam. Piotr Barański sang with many orchestras, among others Orchestra Holland Bach Ensemble, Holland Symfonie Orkest and Capella Cracoviensis in 2015 in Cracow, where he sang the role of Melo in Händel's “Sosarme“ under Jan Tomasz Adamus.
His voice enables him to master a various vocal repertoire which includes such operatic roles as Tolomeo in Händel's “Giulio Cesare“, Polinesso in Händel's “Ariodante“, Orlando in Vivaldi's “Orlando Furioso“, Farnace in Mozart's “Mitridate“, Oberon in Britten's “Midsummer Night Dream“. Next to the opera, Barański's repertoire includes also oratorio's as well as romantic lieder. His vocal abilities enable him to perform with great success songs by R. Strauss, Fr. Schubert, P. Tchaikovsky, M. Mussorgsky, Fr. Chopin, G. Mahler as well as contemporary music.
Piotr Barański has also a Master's degree in Dutch/Flemish Language and Literature (Wrocław University).
